6 Decades

Happy Birthday to my Dad. Today you would have been the BIG 6-0! I miss you so very much. Really more than words can say. With tears in my eyes, I remember all that you were. The good times. The bad times. The loud times. The sentimental times. Everything. I love you!

To celebrate my Dad, I am going to share some of my favorite stories and moments of our life.

*When I was about 3 years old. I told everyone that I saw that "This is my Mom. This is my black Dad. My Mom is pregnant and we are all getting married." First of all, my Dad is Italian not African American. Second, my Mom was not pregnant. Third, they were not even engaged yet. So there is that. (My biological Dad died when I was young, my Dad adopted me after they did get married and has raised me since I was a toddler)

*I remember my Dad holding me so that we could dance at my Mom and Dads wedding. The smile on my Dads face. The smile and rosy red cheeks on mine.

*We were driving home after my Dad made the adoption finalized at the courthouse. I was sitting in the back seat looking at my arm. My Mom asked what I was doing. "Waiting to get dark like my Dad!"

*My Dad took me to get my ears pierced without my Mom knowing. Then they got super infected and had to be removed. I now have a slit in my ear!

*My Dads face seeing me dressed up for dances. Seeing me graduate. Smiles, smiles and more smiles.

*When I was pregnant with Dominic. My Dad went to build a bear. He made a bear for me and Dominic. He did all the stations. If you know my Dad then you understand how awesome this is. He is totally not the type of person to spin around holding a small heart in the middle of a store.

*Seeing my Dad hold his first grandson in the hospital.  Warms my heart.

*My Dad bought Dominic his first ride on toy. A John Deer tractor. He even dug out a course for Dom to ride on since he gave it to him for Christmas.

*Dancing with my Dad at my wedding.  Makes me so teary eyed.

*Watching my Dad oooh and ahhh at his second grandson. Tickling his toes and belly.  He was too sick to come to the hospital and did not get to see Logan until he was a couple weeks old. That made my heart hurt but I was comforted when he got to "play" with him.

*My Dad's last birthday before he passed. I went to the baker to get his cake. I had to hand make the apple from his IMAC onto it because the bakery would not do it. His smile when he saw the cake.

These memories I will cherish for all my life. There are so many more but these are the ones I choose to share. Happy Birthday to a great man.

Double Digits

Dominic

You are 10 years old. TEN YEARS OLD! How on earth is that even possible? Weren't you just born?

This year you had 2 parties (as you do every year). One with family, one with friends as always. Then we had a family movie night and you picked going to Ichiban for your birthday dinner. Ichiban was not open when we went so we decided on Saga instead. You LOVED it! The chef was throwing broccoli into our mouths, squirting saki in Dad's mouth and let you use the peeing boy to put out a fire!

You are 4foot 10 inches tall. You weight 77 pounds. Tall and skinny. You are letting your hair grow out and the eyes you have will melt girls hearts someday. You will not wear anything but jeans! (wind pants and sweats are a thing of the past) You are handsome.

Smarter than is good for you. Possibly never thinking that you are ever wrong is not the way to be....but you will learn that with time my son. You get straight A's but still tend to be chatty in school. You are very good at drawing and love to ride bikes. (someday you can get a dirt bike but with you breaking your elbow in the fall, now is just not the time) This is your last year in the little kid schools. Next year you are off to the Centennial School. GAH

You love love love video games. You spent all of your Toys R Us gift cards on them. You play your 3DS and DSI XL all the time. It is really about the only time you are quiet ;)

You are so so sweet when you want to be. The Mommy love is pretty much behind you but I do get an occasional hug and kiss. Family movie nights are about the best thing for our crazy family of five. You like sitting on the living room floor with big pillows, eating popcorn and candy, watching anything with all of us.

I know before long, you will be driving. And then graduating. And then going to college. And then getting married and having your own kids. Someone should probably start holding my hand now because this Mama is not ready for all of that. Keep on being a kid. A small kid. One that does not have a teenage attitude and talk back. You know, like you were when you were 2.

We love you so so much. You are growing into a pretty cool young man.

Turning 2

Logan

You turned 2 years old today. You had 2 parties yesterday and one of them I had to miss. Your big brother Dominic fractured his elbow on the bounce house. It was a crazy day. So happy to celebrate with you. So scared driving your brother from the Urgent Care to Children's Hospital. I missed your family party but we had a blast at the friend's party. You blew out your candles and loved opening presents. You may have opened one before it was time and ran around the house caring it!

The last year has brought so much! You had tubes put in your ears, your adenoids removed 2 days before your birthday party. You started daycare again, which was a huge challenging change. You did not adjust well at first. You grew so much this past year. Getting taller and skinnier! Your vocabulary has exploded and you repeat everything. I mean, everything. Ha!

We love you so much and laugh constantly at what you say and do. You love Blue's Clues, Wiggles, Coloring, Duplo blocks, Cars/Trains and so much more. You adore your baby sister and love playing with your big brother. You amaze us every day with your new skills, funny sayings and loving personality.

Happy Second Birthday Little Man! We are so blessed to be your parents!!

A big week

This past week has been milestones galore!

Logan started going on the POTTY on Sunday 8.7.11! We are not forcing him, just asking. If he says No then we do not put him on it. He has been interested for a few weeks but I was brushing it off. Thinking that he just could not be ready yet! Then he started asking to go on the potty and taking his diaper off. So I thought, well he is :) He has gone a couple times. He wakes up in the morning and even from naps asking for the potty. All good signs :)  We bought him a second potty chair since we have 2 bathrooms. He has done wonderful and I know it will be MONTHS before he is potty trained. But for now, I am thankful to have a not even 2 year old boy who goes like a big boy!

Charlotte started rolling over from her back to her belly on Sunday 8.7.11. If that was not grand enough, she started rolling from her belly to her back on 8.9.11!  My little sweet baby is a roller. A rolly polly roller. The little cutie does it in her sleep and then gets mad and wakes up screaming. It is adorable, funny and oh so tiring!  My baby is just growing so fast. I need a pause button, please.

My husband turned 30! THE BIG 30! He can no longer say to me that he is in the under 30 crowd ;)

How has the week gone for you?

Birthday Wishes to my first born

9 years ago today I spent 43 hours in labor before delivering my first born.  You were a tiny little guy, so cute, so pure, so snugly.  Now you are a tall, handsome, smart and a crazy little man.

It is hard to describe how much you love someone when you first look at them.  Now its hard to describe how I feel about you growing up so quickly.  You went from a chubster baby who ate non stop, to a waddling toddler who talked so much, to a smart preschooler who accelerated faster than I ever imagined, to a school aged child who gets bored very easily! Every year comes and goes....you get bigger and bigger.  You will soon be taller than Mommy and I will have to look up at you to say hi or get a hug (if you even hug me then)!

I wish you the best with each birthday. I give you presents that you ask for.  I hug and kiss you.  I take you to dinner where ever you choose.  But most of all, I love you.  Happy Birthday little man!

Day of Events

Busy is a great word to describe this Saturday!

The day started off with Logan waking up at 5 am AGAIN.  Ugh, Mommy is too old for that stuff kiddo!  I went to the craft show with my Mom and my sister.  We had a great time and even found some wonderful Christmas gifts and a flag for my Dad's grave (American flag with and Eagle...sums up my Dad perfectly!).

After the craft show, I hurried home to pick up the hubs and kiddos.  Off we went to Dylan's 6th birthday party.  Happy Birthday Buddy!  We had a great time with some good friends.  Everyone enjoyed a yummy lunch and chocolate cake while the kids decorated an ornament for the tree :)  Dylan was super excited about the lego sets we got him and Gary is very proud that he picked his favorite gift.

As soon as we were done at the party, we left with Amber, Audrey and Jack to go down town.  We went to see Garys office and hit the rest rooms before lining up for the parade.  A quick stop to get hot chocolate and we were set!  We lined up...on the wrong side of the road...so here we are running across the street right before the first horses come marching down the road.  The horses were beautiful, the kids were waving and smiling...it was a great site to see.  Logan was very excited to see all the lights.  I loved that the horses shook their heads YES when you asked if their name was (insert horse name here like King).

From the parade we all went to dinner.  WELCOME TO MOES.  It was here that we were all slightly embarrassed when Thriller came on and Dominic got up and started dancing in the isle.  Then Logan started doing his toddler dance in his high chair.  Oh my....

We had a fun filled day and each Saturday is filled with these types of events from now until the first of the year.  May the force be with me to get through it all!!

Planning party of 1.3

Since becoming a Mom, I have not really been a fly by the seat of your pants type person.  I like to plan, I like to know and I just like to be aware.  I am not a total stick in the mud and do accept late invites for things and do go out without having an exact plan for the day sometimes.  But, lately my planning has been horrible!  Pregnancy throws a spin on everything...including my prep and plan work.

Weekly I plan:
grocery list
menu
cleaning
parties/get togethers or outings
shopping list (bday stuff, xmas, random other crap)
bill paying

I have spreadsheets and yes I am known for them!  My Dad used to make fun of me (in a loving fatherly way) for it.  (funny little story insert moment: I had spreadsheet after spreadsheet for our wedding.  seating charts. cake. menu. guest lists. songs. everything had its place on a spreadsheet PERIOD. You have to plan when you are on a budget to have exactly what you want!  My parents gave me X amount of dollars and Gary and I had X amount of dollars and I did the best I could do with that money...thank you spreadsheets!  AND THEN THE DJ LOST HALF OF OUR MUSIC on his computer and my spreadsheets went to shit...I panicked.  Fear set in...my eyes grew wide and my temperament changed to angry bride on a mission mode.  It was a sight to see when our entire wedding party and other close friends outside with us were running around to their cars and attempting to find a song to be announced to.  It was crazy and none of our 250 guests realized that we did NOT pick the song we got announced to) I still get picked on every now and again by my family for my spreadsheets but hey they come in handy and keep me on my toes. (Insert my cousin, Mom, Aunt and Sister here who all made fun of me for my spreadsheets for her baby shower *waves hi* but hey we got er done and it was beautifully decorated!)

So anyway....I have not been a good planner for the last 2 months.  My poor baby Logan's first birthday was all bought the night before and day of his party.  *hand on head in embarrassment*  That is so not me.  I am always partially done Christmas shopping by now and really have only a few presents bought.  I feel like a different version of the real me currently and it is weird. I have gone grocery shopping without lists, without coupons and have not planned a meal in forever.  It is nuts, crazy and expensive.  I am ready to get back to the former me....now if I can just find the energy to be that me!
