VIP for a hot second

On Friday night, Gary and I attend the CD release party.  It was our date night, which are very few and far between now a days! The band, These Lions, are managed by a close family friend of ours.  Dom is an awesome young man and we hope the best for him in his career!  We do not know any other 20 something man that works 3 jobs while going for his MBA. He deserves mad props and will be kickin some serious ass by the time he is 30!  And we will be there cheering him on the whole way....

When we got to Diesel on the South Side, we were greeted with a copy of their CD.  We went in and I grabbed a Captian and diet coke (it is my drink and I love it, when I actually do drink) and the hubs had a Coke (DD, we are responsible parents don't ya know). Shortly after we arrived, my brother came and joined us.  Dom is my brothers close friend who has grown to be like a brother to us!  He calls my kids his 'nephews and niece.' We watched the opening band and then see James Harrison walk through the door and go upstairs to the VIP lounge. Not that we actually spoke to him, but it was cool that he was there! During the second band we were called to the front door by my brother, Sam.  We found out that we had a VIP booth upstairs awaiting us too, with a paid bottle of vodka and a front view of the bands. OMG, how AWESOME is that! Dom is the best, seriously!  He made us feel super special and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We went up to the lounge and I had a couple drinks.  For a woman that has not drank more than a wine cooler in a year, WHOA baby!  3 drinks in 2 hours and I was a tiny bit tipsy, ahem, but in a good way.  It was cool to be up there....one booth from the band and 2 from a Steeler...but that is not why we went.  We went to support our friend, our brother and his band. Dom-we love you and are so very proud of everything you have accomplished in your short life!  The band is great and they play at the Streets of Cranberry during the summer concert tour.  If you have never heard them, please go and check them out! I wish I had more pictures to share but I did not bring my camera, boo!

Great time, good family/friend and celebrating success...and feeling like a VIP for a brief moment in time :) Life is good!  And do not forget, if you have not heard These Lions...buy their song on ITunes. Support a local band and a family friend!

Love Day and tidbits

hThis year I decided to do something different on Valentine's Day.  Gary and I always hang out at home...no way we are going to try to go to dinner out on a day like that.  However, this year I did not want my Mom to be alone.  So I figured, hey, why don't we have our parents and siblings over for dinner.  I'll make something easy like lasagna, salad, garlic bread and brownies! And that my friends, is exactly what we did.  I pre-made the lasagna and brownies the night before.  Ahem, broken toe and supposed to be off my feet per my OB.  I cut the brownies in heart shapes per the norm.  Everyone had a good time so the night was a success.

Our date night is coming up this Saturday and we have decided on good Italian food as take out and a movie in :)  Yes, we know how to party! And no we are not the romantic type of couple at all...we are totally down to earth and real.  When we first started dating, Gary would buy me a rose every weekend.  It was sweet and thoughtful and he does buy me flowers for no reason still...we just are not the kissy romantic types.  GAH, gag me if we were!

Onto some the of the cute that is my boys ;)
Dominic made me the best card this year.  He used the sides of his hands to make a painted heart.  On the card it says "You stole my Heart!" He will melt some girls heart someday....but for now he has to keep melting mine!
Logan has been talking more and more: Row, Row Row when he wants you to sing Row, Row, Row your boat.  Happy Birdah (happy birthday). Brudda (brother). He calls Bewa (Bella, my Moms Yorkie) when he is eating because he likes to feed her from his highchair, lol.   He grabs his diaper and says pee-pee and I think he saying it when he is going....he also is grabbing his diapers when he wants changed.  I think more potty training is in our future!
Dominic got all good reports on his report card...I mean nothing that says "Dominic is too chatty, Dominic wiggles in his seat, Dominic needs to pay attention." NONE...I am in shock! He received lots of praise for that :) All the reports were "Dominic pays attention, Dominic uses time wisely, Dominic finishes his work, Dominic participates in class." A Mothers dream come true.

I hope you and yours had a wonderful love day...even if high on romance is your thing ;)

Date Night

WOW I can hardly believe that Gary and I are actually going out to dinner in Robinson with no kids and no real time frame.  It has been so long since we went out to dinner by ourselves that neither of us even remember when we did.

Every family knows how hard it is to get out without the kids and how important it is to do for your marriage. You need to reconnect with your significant other in ways that do not include 4 handed diaper changes, baths or silly faces!  It keeps your relationship fresh, new and exciting.

We are going to dinner at PF Changs and neither of us have ever been there.  The food sounds yummy and yes I have already looked at it a few times online.  I will actually be wearing make up, have my hair done and be dressed in clothes that are not flannel/fleece.  It is a big deal :)

To our friends, if you need a night out then hit us up.  I would be happy to watch your kids while you reconnect with the person who helped create your family!
